The firm

Our Chicago based firm includes staff members from Wisconsin, Indiana and Georgia. We perform due diligence services for banks, finance companies and factoring institutions. We have worked on transactions ranging in size from $1 million to $75 million.

Our group has extensive experience with a wide range of industries including automotive, construction and retail suppliers.

Associates

Steve Keyser

Prior to forming Keyser Associates, Steve ran the national field examination department for LaSalle Bank for over five years. He oversaw sixty internal examiners and managed approximately 20+ contract firms. Steve has over 25 years in the asset based lending industry including an audit management role at Fremont Financial and running a lenders services practice for BDO Seidman.

He has taught for the Commercial Finance Association for the past ten years. Steve is currently working on becoming a CIRA (Certified Insolvency & Restructuring Advisor).

Lorenzo Palermo

Lorenzo began his career as an ABL examiner with LaSalle Bank and has over seven years of experience in the ABL industry. He also has extensive experience in both public practise and industry accounting roles. Lorenzo incorporated time with a Chicago-based public accounting firm where he performed high-level due diligence, turnaround and restructuring services for various clients in the banking and financial sectors.

He is currently a Managing Partner of Steeplechase, LLC. His company specializes in providing field examinations for asset-based lenders, as well as a variety of accounting, tax, and business advisory services.

Lorenzo holds degrees in Accounting and Finance from the University of Illinois—Urbana.

Lewis Kranick

Lewis began his career with GE Capital in Chicago working in the Distribution Finance division, performing reviews and inspections of floorplan inventory for customers in the agricultural, outdoor power, construction, and marine industries. He subsequently joined LaSalle Business Credit where he was responsible for performing on-site field examinations for ABL and Commercial borrowers, routinely working with distressed companies in various stages of a turnaround plan.

Lewis worked for Wachovia/Wells Fargo as an Underwriter and Portfolio Manager in the Commercial Banking division. He was responsible to performing due diligence and financial analysis to structure deals within bank guidelines and mitigate potential risks for ABL, cash-flow, and leveraged credits. Lewis joined Wachovia as a Portfolio Analyst responsible for monitoring a portfolio of 30 credits with ABL structures representing $125MM in outstandings, managing the reporting and field exam process for these borrowers.

Lewis holds an undergraduate degree in Accounting from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee and an MBA from the University of Florida in Gainesville.

Joe Barber

Prior to joining Keyser Associates, Joe served as an analyst with the Special Assets Group at General Electric Capital Corporation. Joe worked closely with relationship managers to manage large accounts in the workout group. Before serving as an analyst with GE Capital, Joe served as a senior field examiner with LaSalle Bank.

Joe is a finance graduate of the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire and has been in the commercial lending industry for over 8 years.

Anderson Hopson Jr.

Anderson Hopson Jr. a CPA and MBA has been involved in the ABL industry since 1982 as a field examiner, audit manager, operations manager and credit officer for a large national bank.

He has been President of AH Secured Lending Services since 1997. His company specializes in survey, takeover, and recurring examination services for ABL lenders.

Allan Guckert

Allan began his auditing career as a Revenue Recovery Audit Specialist at United Parcel Service, increasing revenue and decreasing customer credits. Allan then joined LaSalle Business Credit where he performed on-site field examinations for ABL and Commercial borrowers. He then became the Franchise Audit Manager at NexCen Franchise Management where he was responsible for developing and implementing a franchise audit program. After the successful implementation, he then joined Bank of America Business Capital where he performed on-site field examinations on transactions ranging from $1 Million - $50 Million.

Allan obtained a Bachelor’s of Science in Accounting from DeVry University and a Master’s in Accounting and Financial Management from Keller Graduate School of Management. Allan also obtained the Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) credential and looks forward to sitting for the Certified Public Accounting (CPA) exam.

Dana Felix

Dana began his career in public accounting in 1990 with Urbach, Kahn & Werlin, P.C. in Albany, NY. After moving to Georgia in 1994, he continued his public accounting career with Grant Thornton, LLP. He was Corporate Controller for Wink Davis Equipment Company from 1998 to 2000, a national leader in the sale, installation and service of commercial laundry and dry-cleaning equipment.

Dana brought his background in public and corporate accounting to the banking industry in 2000, as a Senior Field Examiner with Fleet Capital. He has been an Underwriter or Senior Field Examiner with Capital Source, First Capital and, most recently, Bank of America. Dana’s ABL career has focused primarily on small- to middle-market manufacturing and distribution companies, with lines of credit ranging from $5.0MM to $4.25B, the latter being the largest ever in U.S. banking history.

Dana graduated cum laude from Binghamton (N.Y.) University with a B.S. - Accounting. He is an active Georgia CPA and member of the AICPA. In addition, Dana was Valedictorian of Norwood-Norfolk Central School’s Class of 1986.

Apostolis Hardaloupas

Prior to joining Steve Keyser’s team, Apostolis (Paul) Hardaloupas, a CPA, served as a derivative analyst at Bank of America for 11 years. He worked closely with senior traders and accounting to ensure the accuracy on all transactions and P&L reporting each business day.

He currently performs ABL examinations for Keyser Associates, LLC, as well as a variety of accounting, tax, audit, and business advisory services for Steeplechase, LLC, a Chicago based CPA firm.

Apostolis holds degrees in Finance from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana and Master of Science in Accountancy from DePaul University.
